Asbestos Removal

After intense investigation by government authorities, it was found that there was an enormous amount of asbestos present in public buildings, schools, hospitals and public housing all containing various types of asbestos, highlighting the potential health risk to people working and living in and around these products.

The extent and places where they found the presence of asbestos was also varied, and in some places, deterioration due to the age of the asbestos products was found to be of extreme risk to the public.

As community awareness of the dangers involved in handling and removing asbestos or asbestos-containing products became heightened, government authorities found it necessary to set up a register of companies with the capability of handling these types of hazardous substances under specified legislation passed by them.

With all this in mind, D&V Services applied for, and received an unlimited asbestos license on 30th May 1994, for the purposes of asbestos product removal.

D&V Services manages the safe handling and removal of asbestos or asbestos-containing products from commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, public housing or any other type of asbestos-containing structure, with the aim of reducing potential health risks to people working or living in and around these products.

Major asbestos removal programs are often complex and D&V Services strive at all times to minimise disruption to the occupancy of any building involved in this work. Due to the increased risk to the personnel engaged in this process, we manage a strict program of control, both in the removal and disposal of waste.

D&V Services has had quite a large amount of experience with site remediation, including tank removal and asbestos contaminated soil clean up, having done work at for the Thebarton Council, Adelaide, at the old Michell Tannery site located at Thebarton, and the most recent being at D.S.T.O., Salisbury, Adelaide.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is a membrane resistant to water that will not allow water to penetrate through waterproofing material into a substrate.

The application of a liquid, bitumen, adhesive or torch on membranes is applied to areas such as planters, balconies retaining walls and roof areas etc.

These membranes form a positive vapour barrier against moisture and can be fabricated to existing profiles. Most membranes have a good elongation, resistant to chemicals and accommodate structural movement and will not rot decay.

Most membranes are safe to use and have a low odour.

Application must be prepared and areas cleaned and should be applied by and approved applicator on behalf of the manufacturer.

Material Safety Data Sheets are available on all products.
